Create in Aseprite. Animate with bones in Mixel.

Mixel is a lightweight pixel-art animation tool focused on skeletal rigging. Import Aseprite projects, organize your layers and frames, build bone hierarchies, and animate using Forward Kinematics (FK) and Inverse Kinematics (IK).

Built with C++ and Raylib, Mixel is designed to stay lightweight without relying on Electron.

✨ Key Features

• 🦴 Bone-Based Animation — Build skeletal hierarchies and pose your pixel art using FK and IK.
• 🎨 Aseprite Import — Import .ase and .aseprite files. The current importer handles basic layer and frame data, with support for raw pixel cels. Compressed cels may not import correctly yet, and linked cels, indexed and grayscale color modes, and advanced features such as slices, tags, and tilemaps are not fully supported.
• 🛠️ Pixel-Art Tools — Draw and edit sprites with brush, fill, selection, and canvas tools.
• 🗂️ Layers and Frames — Organize your artwork and manage animation frames.
• 💾 Project Saving — Save your work in Mixel's native .mixel project format.

⚙️ System Requirements

• Windows: Windows 10 or later; installer around 20 MB.
• Linux: RPM packages for Fedora-based distributions and DEB packages for Debian/Ubuntu-based distributions. Package size varies.
• Memory: Around 190 MB was observed during one test with over 200 frames and 3 layers session. Actual usage depends on the project and system.
• macOS: Not available yet.
